The first tranche of the 5-billion rouble loan from EBRD to the largest private water supply operator in Russia, Rosvodokanal Group, in the amount of 1,5 billion roubles was included into the largest deals of 2008 in the rating by Global Water Intelligence, a world magazine leading in the water supply and water disposal systems branch.

The agreement between Rosvodokanal and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development was named one of four agreements which are the most significant ones in the world for development of public-private partnership in the water supply sector in 2008 and was nominated for the Water Deal of the Year award by Global Water Intelligence, a leading international periodical of this branch.

Loan funds of the Russian housing and public utilities, which became the largest one in the private sector, are directed towards modernization of water-supply and water-disposal systems in the seven large cities of Russia where Rosvodokanal works: Barnaul, Kaluga, Krasnodar, Omsk, Orenburg, Tver and Tyumen, as well as towards optimization of the group’s loan portfolio.

The agreement to allocate the first part of the EBRD credit to Rosvodokanal in the amount of 1,5 billion roubles for a 13 year period was signed on March 28, 2008. According to the terms of the bank, Rosvodokanal should adjust existing contracts with municipalities in accordance with the best international practice in public-private partnership, which the company has already successfully performed in five regions of Russia.
